What are the films under Mission: Impossible? What is the brief story of each?

Mission: Impossible is a series of American action spy films. The film is based on a follow-on from the TV series of the same name by Bruce Geller. Tom Cruise produced the film, and also he plays the main character. In this series Ethan Hunt, an agent of the Impossible Mission Force, is shown. The films have been written, directed, and scored by various filmmakers and crew. The musical themes were taken from the original series by Lalo Schifrin. All the films in the series are co-produced and released by Paramount Pictures.

Beginning in 1996, the films followed the Impossible Mission Force’s main field team’s missions, and their leader is Ethan. The mission is to stop the enemy and preventing an impending global disaster. The series focuses on Ethan as the lead character. Some characters have recurring roles in the films, like Luther Stickell and Benji Dunn.

The film series has received positive reviews both from the audience and critics. It is the 16th highest-grossing film series of all time and to date with a worldwide gross of over $3.5 billion. It is one of the best action franchises to date.

Films under Mission Impossible –

Mission: Impossible – When U.S. government operative Ethan Hunt and Jim Phelps (Ethan Mentor) go on a covert assignment, Jim is killed, and Ethan becomes the main suspect. Ethan later hires Luther Stickell (hacker), Franz Krieger (maverick pilot) to help get inside the guarded CIA building to get a confidential computer file that will prove his innocence. The film was released in 1996. 

Mission: Impossible 2 –  Ethan Hunt leads his team to capture a deadly German virus before terrorists release it. He has to deal with a gang of international terrorists led by a former IMF agent. The film was released in 2000.  

Mission: Impossible III – Ethan Hunt retires from active duty and training recruits for the Impossible Mission Force, and then he faces the toughest part of his career. Owen Davian (an international broker of arms and information) threatens Ethan. The film was released in 2006.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – Ethan Hunt and the entire IMF agency are blamed for a terrorist attack on the Kremlin. They did not get any support from U.S Government. Ethan is left without any resources, and backup must somehow clear the agency’s name and prevent another attack. The film was released in 2011. 

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – IMF now disbanded and Ethan Hunt out in the cold. A new threat Syndicate soon comes. They are the network of highly skilled operatives whose major task is to establish a new world by an escalating series of terrorist attacks—the film released in 2015.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout –  To prevent a disaster of epic proportions Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker. John Lark (Arms dealer) and a group of terrorists plan to use three plutonium cores for a nuclear attack on the Vatican, Mecca, Saudi Arabia, Jerusalem simultaneously. The film was released in 2018.
